Privacy Policy

Effective: August 2, 2026

This policy explains how OpenHealth (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Mozu iPhone app or visit mozu.app. Mozu is a meal journal and companion app. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.

Information you choose to send

Mozu 1.0 does not require an account. When you use a meal-input feature, the app sends the information needed for that request over HTTPS to services operated for OpenHealth:

• Photo: a meal photo you take or select.
• Voice: a recording you make and the transcript created from it.
• Search: the food description you enter and the results you select.
• Barcode: the product code you scan or enter.

These requests may produce estimated foods, portions, calories, nutrients, and processing diagnostics. You can review and edit a result before saving it. Confirmed meals, journey progress, and app preferences are stored on your device.

Technical and diagnostic information

Our infrastructure records information needed to operate, secure, and improve the service. Depending on the request, this can include the search text or barcode, a short transcript excerpt, request and analysis identifiers, result count, processing mode, cache status, timing, errors, request URL, IP address, and user-agent information.

How we use information

• Provide photo, voice, search, and barcode meal analysis.
• Return editable nutrition estimates and keep the service reliable.
• Diagnose failures, protect the service, and measure search quality and latency.
• Respond to support, privacy, and legal requests.

Service providers

We use service providers only as needed to deliver Mozu. Google Cloud hosts our application, logging, and analytics infrastructure. OpenRouter and its selected model provider may process meal text and images. DeepInfra processes speech and may support search retrieval. If a barcode is not found in our primary sources, its product code may be sent to Open Food Facts. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices.

We do not sell personal information. Mozu has no third-party advertising SDK, does not use your meal data for advertising, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Nutrition data sources

Mozu may return nutrition information derived from USDA FoodData Central, whose data is public domain under CC0, and Open Food Facts, whose database is available under the Open Database License (ODbL). Source data can be incomplete or inaccurate, so review each result before saving it.

Retention

• Raw photos and audio are processed for the request and are not intentionally written to Mozu’s application database. They may still be handled temporarily by infrastructure and processing providers under their retention and security practices.
• Derived image-analysis results may remain in an in-memory response cache for up to 24 hours. Search-retrieval results may remain cached for about 5 minutes, and barcode results for about 1 hour.
• Google Cloud’s standard application and request logs are currently retained for 30 days.
• Search-event records in our analytics database do not currently have an automatic expiration date. They are kept until we delete them or process an applicable request.
• Meals saved in the app remain on your device until you remove them or the app.

The Mozu website and waitlist

The website does not currently run advertising or cross-site analytics. Our hosting provider may process standard request logs. If you submit the waitlist form, Netlify Forms stores the email address and screening answer you provide so we can send beta invitations and launch news. We keep that submission until it is no longer needed or you ask us to delete it.

Your choices and requests

You decide whether to use photo, microphone, and camera features, and you can change their permissions in iOS Settings. You can edit analysis results before saving them and remove locally saved information by deleting entries or the app.

To ask about, access, correct, or delete information we control, email info@openhealth.co.jp. Because Mozu 1.0 has no account, include the approximate date, time zone, input method, and search text or barcode involved. We may be unable to identify a particular record, and some security logs or provider records may be subject to technical or legal retention limits.

Children

Mozu is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Mozu changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. Material changes will be communicated when required.
